I am very happy to tell you that working with Stephen helped me tremendously, and at a most critical time in my life.  I do not know the circumstances of your job search, but I was mentally, emotionally, and physically frozen due to the sudden onset of my unemployment after many years of being gainfully employed.  I was in my mid-40's, recently unemployed, and moved across country to a place I lived almost 20 years ago (Wash DC) to be closer to family and friends ... now what?  Where do I start?  How do I get back on my feet?

I had worked in high technology, traveled the world, experienced some work I liked, and some I didn't care for. Then I started seeking help from Stephen and after just a couple months of meeting weekly, I became more aware of my real values, I zeroed in on a facet of my life that I wanted to explore more of but had previously been too afraid to consider. With Stephen's help, overhauled my resume and approach to networking, and by some stroke of luck (or was it)...landed a job in just the industry and area that I wanted.

I definitely recommend assistance in the process of looking for a new job,and/or new direction - and would definitely recommend Stephen.  His personality, tools, resource recommendations, all worked for me, I hope they work for you as well.

Wishing you the best in your job search.

My name is B.R., I'm 29 years old and I came to Stephen Kastner this year for career counseling.  I was professionally very unhappy with my career (IT consulting) and knew that I needed to get out and do something that would make me happier.  But I had no clue what that was or what direction to take besides to get some help.

Stephen and I met weekly over the course of about 3 months and over 9 sessions I went from being completely hopeless, stuck, depressed and confused about my professional direction to energized, motivated, directed, and SO EXCITED - thanks to him.  Stephen finally helped me to find what I believe I am meant to do.

Stephen has a methodical approach to the career counseling.  His 'homework' assignments were meaningful and crucial to helping me discover my own professional needs, strengths, and most importantly, emotional roadblocks.  After my first assignment, I had learned more about myself than I had from reading career books and online resources.  His experience working with people in a therapeutic setting was critical to my success as I hit a HUGE amount of emotional difficulties along the way.  He was supportive and extremely insightful and helped me come to some realizations within weeks that I hadn't with my regular therapist over a year.

His approach is very supportive and kind, but I also felt just appropriately pushed and encouraged.  For example, when I finally found out what I wanted to do and looked into where I could receive the training I needed, it was his support that got me started on it right away, as opposed to waiting and over thinking it like I typically would have done due to fears I was struggling with.  I considered him a crucial part of my "team" as I moved forward and made some critical changes in my life.  Stephen can add a sense of humor and light heartedness to any situation even when things become difficult.

I highly recommend working with Stephen.  I am so grateful for all his help.

 Best, B.R.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for all of your help. When I began seeing you, I was so unfocused about the direction I wanted to go. You really helped me remember and focus on my values, and I feel better than ever now knowing I am going into a field that is truly right for me. Thank you!

I hope all is well with you and your practice,  E.L.
